By Sam Waller

Local students can still benefit from the annual Adopt-A-Buddy program sponsored by the Shackelford County Resource Center, with the objective of making sure that all Albany and Moran students have adequate school supplies before the start of classes for the 2022-2023 school year.

Registration deadline for the program is this Friday, Aug. 5.

As it has for decades, the Adopt-A-Buddy program helps provide school supplies for children in Shackelford County.

Application forms are available at the front desk at the Resource Center. Forms should be returned to ResourceCare by the end of the workday on Friday.

The Adopt-A-Buddy program benefits not just elementary students, but junior high and high school ages can also apply.

Older students will receive basic paper, spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, and highlighters. Elementary students will be given crayons and backpacks in addition.

This week’s deadline will give organizers time to put together enough supplies before distribution days Thursday, Aug. 11, and Friday, Aug. 12. Parents can pick up either day from  9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Youth Center.

For more information, call ResourceCare at 325-762-2447.

Contributions to the program are needed and may be mailed to ATTN: Adopt-A-Buddy, P.O. Box 2435, Albany, Texas 76430, or dropped off at the Resource Center office at 725 Pate St. in Albany.
