After satisfactorily completing a 90-day trial period, Brandi Green’s employment as Shackelford County Hospital District administrator was extended during a regular board meeting on Monday, July 18.

Green, who was moved to the administrator position on March 31, also received a $1,000 raise that will be divided in her paychecks between now and the end of the year.

The action came after a 30-minute closed session during which a housekeeping contract was also discussed.

Green was directed to negotiate the proposed cost with the vendor and report back next month.

Legal Counsel

Since there is no legal counsel currently on retainer for the district, board member Jason Price suggested that action be taken to work with one of the two local attorneys.

He had spoken with both Rollin Rauschl, who is the current county attorney and could potentially have a conflict of interest, and John Montgomery.

Montgomery had proposed a one-time retainer fee of $1,000, with a sliding scale used if he is consulted.

Later in the meeting, directors opted to send preliminary contracts for several district employees to Montgomery for review.

Other Business

•Pharmacist Eric Neal reported that McKesson, the pharmaceutical company that has already been the district’s supplier for several years, won the contract bid for a co-op of small pharmacies formed earlier this year.

•A motion made by Mary Beth Jones was approved that all district staff, including salaried employees, be required to record working hours in some manner, such as with a time clock or online app.

•At the end of the clinic portion of the meeting, the directors were in closed session for about 20 minutes to review evaluations for clinic employees. There was no action.
