94% of taxes collected by deadline

Almost 94 percent of the 2018 tax levy had been collected as of Tuesday, according to chief appraiser Clayton Snyder, with mailed payments coming in for a week or so with the required Jan. 31 postmark deadline.

He also said that there had been fairly steady walk-in traffic since Feb. 1, with property owners paying a little penalty and interest in addition to their original taxes.

Reports from the Shackelford County Central Appraisal District (CAD) showed that $9,009,400 of the $9,593,390, or 93.9 percent had come in or was postmarked before the Jan. 31 deadline.

Collection Totals

As of Feb. 19, Albany ISD had 95.1 percent of the tax levies collected. Collections of $3,535,379 had already been made toward the total adjusted tax amount of $3,717,680.

The taxes collected for Shackelford County on Feb. 19 were 94.6 percent of the total 2018 levy of $3,428,045, with payments received of $3,242,312.

The Shackelford County Hospital District had received payments totaling $1,125,233 on the total adjusted tax levy of $1,191,200, or 94.5 percent.

The City of Albany has collected $503,953 of the $569,281 levy, which is 88.5 percent.

Moran ISD levied taxes of $657,659 for 2018. As of Tuesday, they had collected $580,720, or 88.3 percent. 

The City of Moran, the smallest entity, had collected $21,802 of the $29,525 levied tax, equaling 73.7 percent.
