6th grade band receives top ratings

The sixth grade bands earned three Division I ratings from the judges for concert selections played at the Clyde Band Festival last Friday.

“The band got straight Division I ratings across the board,” assistant director Danna Vaughan said. “Theyplayedwellandwere very professional during the entire trip.”

The band received Division I ratings from all three judges, the highest that can be awarded.

The bands were not competing against other bands in their divisions, rather they were judged against a preset standard.

Thegroupplayed“Pride of America” and “Adrenaline Rush” at the contest.

“They couldn’t have played any better, and we got really good comments from the judges,” Vaughan said.

Thebandisnowpreparing for the end of the year concert set for May 16 in the high school auditorium, performing along with the other school bands.

The members of the band were treated to lunch at Potter’s Pizza, followed by activities at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Abilene.
