Both the sixth and seventh grade bands earned three Division I ratings from the judges for concert selections played at the Clyde Band Festival last week.

“Both bands got straight Division I ratings across the board,” director William Vaughan said. “They played well and were very professional during the entire trip.”

The two bands each received Division I ratings from the three judges, the highest that can be awarded.

The groups were not competing against other bands in their divisions but were judged against a preset standard.

The sixth grade band played “Banana Boat” and “After Shock,” while the seventh grade band played “Colliding Vision” and “Mystery Ride.”

“I am really proud of both groups,” Vaughan said. “They couldn’t have played any better.”

The sixth graders are preparing to present solos that will be judged.

Both bands will play in the Spring Concert set for May 18 in the high school auditorium.

The fifth and sixth grade bands will start at 6:00 p.m., followed by the seventh grade band and high school at 7:00 p.m.

The director said that awards for the year will be presented at both the concert and the academic banquet.

“The solo medals and recognition of first divisions will be handed out at the academic banquet, while the outstanding musician awards will be announced at the concert.”
