A fifth quarter fellowship will be held following the Albany vs. Anson football game on Friday, with the junior high and high school students being hosted as separate locations.

Students in grades 9-12 will meet in the back yard of the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church, while the junior high will continue to meet across the street at The Feed Store.

Food and beverages will be provided by the Presbyterian and Lutheran churches this week.

The event is organized by The Feed Store and the Albany Ministerial Association, with local churches providing the food and drinks after each home game.

Last week was the first time that fellowship was split at two locations, separating junior high and high students. It was hoped that having separate locations for the two age groups would encourage more attendance, especially at the high school level.

“We had a combined total of 75-100 students last week, so that worked out well,” Tisha Wilkins, Feed Store executive director said. “We also had positive feedback about splitting into two groups.”

Wilkins noted that former MMPC youth ministers Spencer Newsom and John Turner will attend the event this week to visit with the students.

The varsity Lions will play Olney next week for homecoming, with the 5th quarter hosted by First Christian Church and the Feed Store. The high school will return to the field house parking lot or green room depending on weather, while the junior high will go to the Feed Store.

Albany will return home on Oct. 15 to play Hico, with Friendship Baptist Church, Bethel Assembly and United Methodist providing the refreshments.

The final fifth quarter is set for Oct. 29 following the Santo game with First Baptist Church hosting.
