A group of approximately 30 Shackelford County 4-H members and their families took down seating at Prairie Theater on Sunday, June 25, following the final 2023 performance of the Fort Griffin Fandangle.

Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said the 4-Hers were rewarded for their efforts, performed in triple-digit heat, with a pool party hosted by Jamie and Dustin Parsons.

“It took a little less than two hours from start to finish, but of course it was miserably hot,” Bell said. “We were definitely ready for that swim party afterwards and are so thankful to Dustin and Jamie for volunteering that for us.”

Halftime

The 4-H Club’s Summer STEAM program reaches the midway point this week before taking a week off.

The program’s fifth session will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29 (today), at The Feed Store.

“This week will be math with Kelli Kreitler organizing things,” Bell said. “There will be math games with dice and cards to help kids realize they use math every day even in fun things.”

Last week’s session focused on life science with Tamara Trail hosting the group in her garden.

“We talked about soil and pollination,” Bell said. “Carley Howard had a few science things that tied in. We’re so grateful for both of them and the knowledge they had to pass along.”

The program will not meet next week, then resume on Thursday, July 13. STEAM sessions will be held each Thursday through Aug. 11.
