4-H’ers to meet Monday
By Lynsi Musselman
Shackelford County youth between the ages of eight and 18 who are interested in participating in 4-H activities are encouraged to attend a 4-H club meeting on Monday, Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at The Feed Store.
County Agent Kloey Painter, who will serve as the club manager this year, said the kick-off party will be a time to go over events and pass out T-shirts.
The event is designed to be an informal meeting and 4-H membership drive.
The club’s events this year will include a hunters safety course, archery, shooting sports, livestock judging, food challenge and food show, sewing clinics, and a fashion retreat, according to Painter.
“The club also includes livestock projects for county and major stock shows,” Painter said.
She explained that 4-H is not just for kids who are interested in livestock.
“There is something for everyone in 4-H,” Painter added. “The club offers events that teach certain life skills that are lost in today’s world. We need to keep these traditions alive before they are lost.”
