By Sam Waller

Shackelford County 4-H held its annual Friendsgiving celebration Sunday, Nov. 13 at The Feed Store in addition to conducting the monthly meeting and working on community service projects.

This round of projects involved different groups within the club producing items for Friendship Baptist Church’s Harvest Acres bazaar.

“The Sewing Club made little dish towels that you hang on your oven,” Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said. “The Horse Club made wreaths out of rope. The Outdoor Education kids made bracelets and key chains out of paracord.”

Bell said club officers are in charge of organizing the community service projects.

“Landon Kreitler was in charge of this one,” she said. “He’s taking all of those donations and delivering them to Friendship Baptist.”

Blanket Drive

Shackelford County 4-H members are assisting ResourceCare by collecting blankets for senior citizens and other families in the community.

“My plan is to have a Christmas party in early December and have everybody bring a blanket,” Bell said.

Anyone wishing to donate a blanket or funds can contact Bell at 325-762-9435.

Stock Show Deadlines

Swine validation for the upcoming stockshow wraps up Friday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 20.

Entries for the Shackelford Youth and Livestock Show are due Thursday, Dec. 1.

“A lot of people have turned those in to Chris Beard or Minnie Denson at Moran,” Bell said. “Anyone who hasn’t done that needs to get with one of us and we’ll get their entries completed.”
