Shackelford County hosted a County 4-H Food Show Saturday, Oct. 24 at Friendship Baptist Church.

Participation was a requirement for any student who plans to participate in the District Food Show on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Kloey Painter, Shackelford County Extension Agent and 4-H Club coordinator, said that each county is allowed to bring four participants from each age division to compete at the district show.

The county show also allows the students a chance to prepare for the district show and to to be familiar with the judging criteria and rules followed at both shows.

Each participant on Saturday had to pre-prepare their food and be ready to make a presentation to the judges about their dish.

The 4-Hers were then tested on a skill and quizzed on food and nutrition facts.

“All first place kiddos will be advancing to district on Nov. 19 in Abilene,” said Painter.

Trevor Bellah who placed first in the Junior Division for Appetizers, already has a prior engagement and will be unable to attend the District Food Show. Luke Smith will be advancing in his place.

Results from Saturday’s food show are as follows:
