4-Hers to compete at food show

Two Shackelford County 4-H members are competing in the District 7 Food Show today, Nov. 15, in Abilene.

Johnnie Hise of Moran is competing in the Senior Main Dish category, and Riley Reames of Albany has entered the Intermediate Main Dish category, according to County Extension Agent Michaela Bradford.

The contest is being held in the Big Country Hall at the Taylor County Expo Center. 

Contestants will be evaluated based upon their dish, proper submission of their recipe, and an interview. Senior exhibitors are also expected to give a four-minute presentation about their entry, including why they chose the dish and how it relates to this year’s theme of “Restaurant Re-creations.”

Winning senior contestants qualify for the State Food Show to be held during the Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station on Thursday, June 13.
