Shackelford County extension agent Kloey Painter has two events scheduled this weekend for 4-H members and other area youth.

4-H Christmas Party

There will be a 4-H Christmas party at The Feed Store at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, and everyone is invited to attend.

“Come join us for games, fun, and lots of food,” said Painter. “Bring your friends. We will be collecting new blankets to donate to the Resource Community Center, so bring a blanket to donate if you can.”

Hunter Education

Painter is hosting a hunter education course on Saturday, Dec. 14.

“I had room for 14 kids, and it filled up within 24 hours,” said Painter. “I offered it to my 4-H kids first, and then posted it online. I was surprised with how quickly it filled.”

Painter will teach the class along with Texas Parks and Wildlife biologist Patrick Schutz.

Shutz and local ag instructor Chris Beard, both of whom are certified through TPWD, will proctor the exam.

Since this class booked full so quickly, Painter plans to host another hunter education class sometime in the not-too-distant future.
