Shackelford County 4-H will celebrate the start of a new year with its kickoff party at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18 at Webb Park.

“We’ll have hot dogs and hang out and play games,” Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said. “We’ll get everybody’s questions answered before everything gets going.”

Bell said club members will be informed of the 14 projects being offered this year.

While the first official club meeting is still being planned, several activities will get underway in the coming weeks.

The first Outdoor Education and Living Skills meeting will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 at The Feed Store.

“That will be for all the shooting sports disciplines to group up and learn some things that apply to all disciplines,” Bell said.

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the gardening and food projects will meet together at 4:00 p.m. at Tamara Trail’s.

“We’re going to make salsa from veggies from the garden and learn how to can,” Bell said.

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, a meeting for 4-Hers who want to participate in the Food and Nutrition contests will be held at The Feed Store.
