This week 4-H members will be busy showing their projects at the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show, but Shackelford County Extension Agent and 4-H Sponsor Kloey Painter has announced several upcoming programs of interest.

Shotgun Practice

The 4-H Shotgun Club will hold practice the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month with the next practice set for Tuesday, Jan. 26.

All practice sessions are held in Breckenridge at the local gun range from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Club members are practicing now for competitions that will be announced closer to summer.

4-H Annual Food Show

The 4-H Annual Food Challenge is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27 in San Angelo.

The local club will be taking three teams to competition, including two junior teams and one intermediate team.

Intermediate team members include Landon Kreitler, Connor Smith, and Rowdy New.

The first junior team members are Luke Smith, Paige Price, Trevor Bellah, and Gage Burton.

The second junior team members include Artie Bell, Carly Kreitler, Willa Early, and Gwendolynn Turner.

Farrier Program

Painter also has announced a special horse program scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m.

“A farrier will be coming to show the kids how to shoe a horse,” said Painter.

The program will be held at the show barn.

Photography Clinic

A photography clinic taught by Emily McCartney has been set for Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at The Feed Store.

“We are asking kids to bring their camera or phone, if they don’t have a camera, and a list of questions for Emily,” said Painter. “She will be guiding them into taking awesome pictures for the contest.”

While this clinic has been organized for 4-H members who are planning to compete, members who just want to come and learn also are welcome to attend.
