Three Moran students competed in the Region II-1A academic meet held Saturday, April 22 at Angelo State University.

Terra Thompson was entered in Computer Science, Tyler Waddell in Social Studies, and Ellis Hise in Mathematics.

While none advanced to the state meet, Moran principal Jo Hise said the experience was a positive one for the students.

“All three did better at regional than they did at district,” she said. “We’re very proud of them for qualifying. Two of them get another shot next year.”

Jo Hise said the main benefit was experience gained by Thompson and Ellis Hise. Waddell was Moran’s lone senior in the meet.

“The tests are more difficult at the regional level,” she said. “It makes you step up. We’ll be a little more prepared next year.”

Prom Night

Moran will hold its prom from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Friday, May 6 at the Moran Events Center.

The event is open to all high school students and their guests. Tickets are $15 apiece and may be obtained from teacher Gay Williams.

The school district has made a number of additions to the Events Center to enhance the prom experience. In addition to a new sound system, a mirror ball, lighting, and fog machine have been purchased.

Makeup Day Part 2

Friday, May 12 will be a class day for all students as the district makes up another day lost to weather in February.

Jo Hise said the day will operate under a normal school day schedule.

Students were also required to attend school on Friday, April 14.
