Local testing facilities reported 19 positive cases of COVID-19 for the week of Oct. 4-8, just one more than the prior week.

According to an update from county judge Bob Skelton, the positive cases were reported by the Shackelford County Health Clinic (SCHC), Resource Care Community Health Center, and the Shackelford County EMS Station. The number of tests administered was not released, but positive results totalled 19 for the week.

SCHC was open on Monday during the Columbus Day holiday, reporting four tests with two positive results.

School nurse Lisa Russell said Tuesday that she reported a total of seven positive cases to the state for last week, including one staff member and three students from each of the two campuses.

Testing is being conducted at the Shackelford County EMS free of charge with an appointment during regular office hours. Call 325-762-3313 to obtain an appointment.

Both testing and vaccines are available by appointment at the Shackelford County Health Clinic (325-762-3661) and ResourceCare Community Health Center (325-762-2447).

Both facilities have the Moderna vaccine available.

The Pfizer vaccine is available for children ages 12 and above in Abilene.
