While they do not compete as a team, the journalism students earned a total of 162 points to bring hometheJournalismTeam trophy and contribute to the overall point tally.

High school UIL coordinator Rick Davis said that the school had six students advancelastyear, doubling the number this year.

“The kids did a great job,” Davis said. “I wasn’t expecting to be the district runner-up for the entire meet since we had several contests without any competitors such as the speaking events.”
