The deadline to apply for a Christmas basket from the Albany Ministerial Alliance has passed, and now the process of preparing the deliveries begins.

Applications were due by Dec. 1, but county citizens can still apply.

“We received a total of 110 applications,” said Ministeral Alliance secretary Tisha Wilkins. “ Of those 110 applications, 67 were from Albany and 43 were from Moran.

While the deadine has passed, Wilkins said families can still apply, but they are not guaranteed to receive a delivery.

The annual event provides Christmas baskets to families in need and includes various food items for a healthy traditional holiday meal.

Baskets offer a choice of a whole uncooked turkey, a pre-cooked turkey breast, or a pre-cooked ham, in addition to vegetables and other holiday side dishes.

“On Dec. 10, sixth graders from the leadership program will be coming to help prepare the baskets,” said Wilkins. “They will fill the containers with non-perishables and load them on the bus for delivery.”

Baskets will be delivered on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be perishable items added to the boxes, so someone will need to be present to accept the donation. Food will not be left at an unoccupied home.

Resource Care will have employees and volunteers to deliver to all Vittles by Vehicles recipients prior to the Dec. 13 delivery date.

For those who chose pickup over delivery, Albany’s time for basket pickup is on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at The Feed Store.

The Moran pickup time is Sunday, Dec. 13, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Moran First Baptist Church.
