About 100 old and new members of the Albany Chamber of Commerce enjoyed a crawfish boil last Thursday, with directors and other volunteers cooking up mounds of crawfish and fried fish.

“I think it was a big hit again this year,” Chamber manager Brandi Lehew said. “We had a lot of people show up and had plenty of food.”

Lehew said she received several new memberships, along with a number of renewals before and during the annual event.

She reported that volunteers cooked up 200 pounds of crawfish, plus some shrimp in the spicy Cajun brine mixture, while others fried up catfish. Those attending had several side dishes to choose from including french fries, cole slaw, and onion rings provided by the Happy Grill.

Glasses of lemonade and iced tea handed out by the Green Gypsy beverage trailer, with the Icehouse donating the condiments.

Toni’s Home Cooking  provided cake bites for dessert.

“We have a long list of people who volunteered to help cook or serve,” Lehew said. “I’m working on a list of names now.”

The crawfish boil has been used as part of the annual membership drive for several years.

Memberships are still available at the following levels: $50 for a senior citizen or senior citizen family, $60 for an individual or a family, as well as $125, $150, or $175 for businesses based on the number of employees. Corporate memberships are $300.

There are also $35 memberships for non-profit organizations.
