ResourceCare Day Camp has been underway for over a week with much higher attendance numbers during week two.

“Our numbers for the first week stayed in the 80s each day,” said one of the camp directors Mindy Ary. “This week, our numbers have been over 100 with Monday having 107 campers.”

Although 155 students registered to attend Day Camp, Ary explained that it is not typical for that many to attend every day.

“We are so thankful for such a great group of high school staff and junior high volunteers who are equipped and ready for the challenge each day,” Ary stated.

All staff members have gone through an orientation process, training them on the techniques and procedures of Day Camp.

Campers have visited many community businesses and facilities so far   and are being hosted by a different local church each day this week.

“It’s amazing to live in a community that gets so involved with our young people,” Ary said. “We have been welcomed by so many   throughout the community, and we are so appreciative of their participation.”

Ary is especially grateful for the daily use of the facilities at Friendship Baptist Church and the Scout Hut.

Parents are reminded that drop-off each morning is between 8:20 and 8:45 a.m. at the Youth Center.

Pickup is at 2:45 p.m. at the City Park for those in grades 1-6 and at the Youth Center for children  three years old through kindergarten age.
