Moran Independent School District superintendent Danny Freeman, school board members Sug Roller, Alice Branham, Linda Stockton, and Gary Roan, a representative from Cisco College, and a large audience of family and friends attended the Moran High School commencement last Friday, May 31, at the new MISD event center.

Graduates included valedictorian Curry Pendleton, salutatorian Kaylin New, Colton Box, Jesse Hawley, K.J. Henderson, Emma Hensley, Kobee Lapp, Khloe New, Summer Pederson, and Ethan Smith.

“We graduated 100 percent of the senior class,” said Freeman. “That’s always good.”

Other Activities

The 2019 graduates will soon go different directions, with two heading into the military, four into the work force, and four to college. However, they all had the chance to spend one more night together as a class at Project Graduation.

Nine of the graduates were at the all-night drug free graduation party.

The graduates stayed in Moran at the high school auditorium and also went to a local game room.

“They had a great time, but it took me two days to recover from being up all night,” said Freeman.

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, May 29, the sixth through 12th graders that had good attendance and class behavior were rewarded with a fun trip to a trampoline park in Abilene.

The elementary field day on May 30 was followed by an award ceremony.
