Truck Show

The third annual Shifters Car Club Truck Show should entice nostalgia buffs and truck enthusiasts to downtown Albany this Saturday, Aug. 17, to see antique vehicles, hot rod pickups, and classic work trucks lined up side by side for judging and viewing.

Everyone is welcome to come out, walk around the show for free, view the preserved and restored relics of a former time, and listen to the rumble of engines that relied on two- or four-barrel carburetors to mix the fuel and air mixture into the proper proportions.

People with classic, hot rod, custom, 4x4’s, or any other type of trucks built in 1987 and earlier are invited to enter the competition.

“We’ll welcome anything that could be classified as a truck,” said organizer Robert Snyder. “Entries can be pickups, flat beds, hot rods, rat rods, 4x4s, panel trucks, Model Ts, classics, customs, or old bed trucks.”

Registration is $20, and takes place from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. the morning of the contest.

“We have some very cool trophies and lots of giveaways,” Snyder said. “Help us spread the word about the show. We hope to see everyone.”

J.D. Dukes and Jody Hinkle from Albany Parts Plus are sponsoring door prizes and other give-aways.

Special handmade trophies will be given to winners.
