Show organizers look for clear skies

It seems as if the very possibility of a fleet of freshly washed and polished classic trucks parked side by side for a truck show in Albany in the fall of the year is enough to inspire clouds to gather, and the third annual Shifters Car Club Truck Show, currently scheduled for the rain-out day on Saturday, Oct. 13, may be rained out a second time.

“We will wait until it gets closer to Saturday to make the call on whether to have the show, or call it due to weather,” said organizer Robert Snyder. “Check the Shifters Car Club Facebook page for information.”

As of press time, the truck show is still scheduled to take place in downtown Albany this Saturday, with registration from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Registration fees are $20, and the entry can be any kind of truck made in 1987 or before.

Winners will be selected and awards will be presented to the top 20, Best of Show, and People’s Choice.

There is no charge for spectators, and people are encouraged to come out and enjoy the vintage vehicles.

For details about the truck show, call Snyder at 325-762-4555, or call 325-762-0003.

The truck show was originally scheduled to take place in downtown Albany last month, but was postponed due to rain.

“We had to reschedule once already because of the weather,” said Snyder. “If we do get rained out again, we will see if we can set another date. We need the rain, but I wouldn’t mind if it waited until Sunday.”
