Shackelford County 4-H elects officers for 2025-2026

By Melinda L. Lucas

Shackelford County 4-H members selected new leadership for the upcoming year during their final meeting of the 2024-2025 program year, held Sunday afternoon, May 4.

Senior and junior officer teams were elected to lead the local youth organization through 2025-2026, with Landon Picquet tapped as senior president and Reese Nitschke chosen to head the junior officers.

Other senior officers include Bradee Stautzenberger, vice president; Carly Kreitler, treasurer; Artie Bell, secretary; and Kerrigan Howard, reporter.

On the junior officer team, Reese Nitschke will serve as president,  Dally Bezner as vice president, Ayers Bezner as treasurer, Baigh Bell as secretary, and Daxton Lehew as reporter.

Shackelford County Extension Agent and 4-H sponsor Kelsey Bell praised the effort and preparation of the candidates during the election.

“The speeches given were the best I’ve heard yet,” Bell said. “I always give them a few points I want them to hit, but most went well beyond that this year. They are a great group, and I’m excited to work with them.”

Although attendance at the meeting was lower than expected – around 25 members – Bell noted the group has approximately 75 total members. Recent issues with the Remind app, which is no longer allowing her to send messages could be responsible for the turnout Bell said.

The only summer event currently confirmed is the Fandangle chair project, with other activities still being finalized.

A final workday on the Courthouse flower beds is scheduled for May 15 at 4 p.m.
