ResourceCare Day Camp in need of staff, supplies
By Melinda L. Lucas
Registration for the 2025 ResourceCare Day Camp has officially closed, but organizers say they are in desperate need of at least 10 more female workers – high school and college age – to help staff the two-week summer program.
“We really need the help,” said programs assistant Ragan Riley. “This is a great opportunity for young people to gain experience, have fun, and make a difference in the lives of local kids.”
The camp will run July 14–25 and is open to children who are age 4 (must be potty trained and have attended a structured program like Head Start, pre-k, or Mother’s Day Out) up to those entering sixth grade in the 2025–2026 school year.
Students going into seventh and eighth grades may volunteer, while those entering ninth grade through first-year college students are eligible to be paid. College students in their second year or older may apply for adult staff positions, specifically working with Pre-K and kindergarten groups.
Applications for both volunteers and paid staff were originally due by June 2, but the deadline has been extended to June 6. The link to apply can be found on the Albany Summer Day Camp Facebook page. Applicants may also email Riley at rriley@resourcecare.org or text 214-663-3271 for more information.
All camper and staff paperwork must be completed online.
Camp hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.
In addition to seeking more staff, ResourceCare is asking the community for support in the form of donations. Contributions of money, sunscreen, snack foods, drinks for workers, and bottled water are especially welcome.
Monetary donations can be mailed to: ResourceCare, ATTN: Day Camp, PO Box 2435, Albany, TX 76430
“Even though registration has ended, the need for community involvement is far from over,” said Riley. “Donations make it possible to keep camp safe, fun, and meaningful for everyone involved.”
ResourceCare Day Camp is partially funded by Albany Chest and relies on additional support from local donors and volunteers.
