Project Graduation sends seniors out in style
By Melinda L. Lucas
A total of 42 members of the Albany High School Class of 2025, along with two junior ushers, took part in this year’s Project Graduation celebration, an all-night party held at multiple locations around Albany, beginning and ending at The Feed Store.
The event kicked off at 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 23, and concluded the following morning.
Coordinated by Tisha Wilkins, Project Graduation 2025 followed a similar schedule and format as last year, including a night packed with games, prizes, and entertainment – all with students safely bussed around town.
The evening started off with a highly competitive dodge ball match between seniors and a mix of parents, siblings, teachers, coaches, and community leaders. Other activities included an inflatable obstacle course, “minute to win it” games, pickleball, a silent disco, and a video game truck. Seniors wrapped up the night with a game of inflatable kickball.
“It was such a fun night and a great way to celebrate our graduates,” Wilkins said.
Over $600 in door prizes were given away each hour, and every senior in attendance received a gift. The 31 seniors who participated in fundraising events received an additional gift for their efforts.
Branson Beal and Keira Caudel were named recipients of Albany Task Force checks, awarded at the end of the night.
As part of the Albany Bucks program, 18 local merchants will accept the custom currency, giving seniors the opportunity to spend their winnings locally and support community businesses.
“We’re so grateful for the donors and volunteers who helped make this event possible,” Wilkins said.
An ad in next week’s Albany News will list this year’s contributors.
