Moran seniors to graduate Friday

Ten Moran seniors will receive high school diplomas at commencement exercises tomorrow evening, while the MISD kindergarten and eighth grade graduation cere-monies will take place tonight.

Commencement

High school graduation will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31 at the MISD Activity Center (formerly the Moran Methodist Church) which is located on Main Street, across from the Moran Baptist Church.

A reception will follow.

Honor graduates include valedictorian Curry Pendleton and salutatorian Kaylin New.

Other members of the Moran High class of 2019 are Colton Box, Jesse Hawley, KJ Henderson, Emma Hensley, Kobee Lapp, Khloe New, Summer Pederson, and Ethan Smith.

Other Graduations

The eighth grade and kindergarten graduation will take place at the MISD Activity Center tonight, May 30, at 6:00 p.m.

The kindergarten graduation will take place first, followed by the middle school.

Eighth grade honor graduates are valedictorian Chloe Hendricks and salutatorian Memphis McGough.

School Schedule

MISD has a 12:30 p.m. early release scheduled for each of the last two days of the 2018-19 school year, Thursday and Friday, May 30 and 31.

Summer school is by invitation only, and the dates have not yet been set, according to superintendent Danny Freeman.

The MISD summer office hours are 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

The 2019-20 fall semester will begin on Monday, Aug. 2. 

Moran will have a modified four-day, fifth-day optional school calendar next year. 

School Board Meeting

The new schedule was approved by the school board at the regular  meeting on May 20. 

Also passed by the trustees was a new teacher and student child day care.

Returning board members Sam Snyder and Alice Branham were sworn in at the meeting last week.

Job Openings

MISD has posted two job openings. 

Moran is looking for a head coach/football coach and for a science teacher for the upcoming school year.

Harley Ethridge resigned from the Moran head coach position to accept a similar job at Oglesby. Ethridge coached at MISD for one year.
