Memorial Day ceremony set for Monday at Aztec

By Melinda L. Lucas

The annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held Monday, May 26, at the Aztec Theater.

The service, sponsored by the Albany Lions Club, will begin at 6 p.m.

The program will open with a welcome by Lions Club president John Tate, followed by the invocation by Pastor Brad McBee. Local Boy Scouts will present the American flag. Kristin Hilliard and Sandy Able will perform the National Anthem.

The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Lions Club member Danny Freeman. Bob Skelton will introduce the guest speaker, J. Paul Hamilton, owner of Monument Investments.

Following the address, Hilliard and Abel will return to perform a patriotic song, with the selection to be announced. A tribute to local veterans will be presented by Sandy Conway and Abel, followed by a video presentation honoring America.

Daniel Key, U.S. Army veteran, will perform Taps. The ceremony will conclude with the benediction by Tate, who also serves as pastor of First Christian Church in Woodson.

Refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony in the community room, provided by the Lions Club.
