Thomas Aly, CEO and founder of Live Missions and former Albany First Baptist Church youth minister, has once again organized a spring break mission trip to Uganda, and six local residents are among the group traveling to Africa.

“We have 21 people on our trip and will be leaving out today,” Aly said on Tuesday. “We will be doing door-to-door evangelism with Pastor Deo and his church in Namayumba, Uganda. We are not doing a specific project this trip but will be involved in street evangelism the entire time.”

Locals on the 2019 Live Mission trip are Tana Thompson, Rachel Hill, Autumn Owen, Michala Huckabay, Hunter Owen, and Michael Cotter.

Hunter Owen and Hill are 2017 AHS graduates, Cotter graduated in 2016, Huckabay in 2015, and Autumn Owen walked across the Albany High commencement stage in 2014.

Several have been to Africa on past mission trips.

Thompson is currently a sophomore at AHS.

Uganda is halfway around the world from Texas, and the team is traveling there to help Bamanya Deogratius better known as “Pastor Deo,” founder of God’s Way Church and Heritage Junior School, continue in his mission to spread the good news to millions in the African nation.

“Please be in prayer for our team of 21 going out to Uganda on March 5-15,” said Aly. “Our team is well equipped and trained and ready to bless the people of Uganda as well as their teammates. Will you be ready to lift up our team to the Lord as we travel to Namayumba?”
