FBC raises $185K in single day for upcoming sanctuary renovation

On Sunday, May 18, members of First Baptist Church contributed the largest single offering in the history of the church to kickstart the Renovation Fund for the church’s historic sanctuary.

This year, 2025, marks the 100th Anniversary of the church’s historic main building, and needed repairs and renovations to the church’s sanctuary have been projected to cost approximately $200,000.

On April 27, Pastor Neil Bennett challenged the church to give $100,000 in a single day to kick off the renovation project. Pastor Bennett began preaching a series of messages from Joshua 1-4 entitled, “Standing on the Promises,” in which He challenged the congregation to trust God and step out on faith to give a sacrificial offering to honor the Lord on Celebration Sunday, May 18.

After a month of prayer, the church responded by exceeding the goal and giving a total offering of $185,795.00 this past Sunday.

“It was truly a cause for celebration for our entire church family,” Pastor Bennett said. “To God be the glory!”

Before receiving the special offering, Bennett challenged the congregation to be inspired by Joshua, as he prepared the people of God to cross the Jordan River and take possession of the Promised Land: “Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” (Joshua 3:5, ESV)

“First Baptist Church members are now looking forward to beautifying our sanctuary as we celebrate the fact that The Lord still does wonders among his people!” Bennett said.
