Closet Angels adds Monday hours

Closet Angels, a local clothing ministry, is run by volunteers, and once again director Lori Reames has adjusted the hours that the ministry will be open to the public in order to try and best accommodate both shoppers and the work staff.

The facility will now close at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. Shopping times on Monday evenings are being added.

“It had become problematic to try and find helpers that could stay and keep Closet Angels open late on Wednesdays,” said Reames. “Most of our volunteers now also sub at the school, and in addition they have commitments at their respective churches for Wednesday night services. ”

Reames said that many of the late afternoon shoppers have schedules that will allow them to come by and shop earlier in the afternoon.

“With all of the school activities, it’s impossible to pick a ‘good night’ to be open late,” said Reames. “Wednesdays are not a good choice for our helpers, so we decided to try Monday night for now.”

Starting next Monday, Oct. 22, Closet Angels will be open exclusively to Shackelford County students and their families from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., and then open to the general public from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

“If we have enough shoppers to make it worth while, we will continue and possibly expand the hours,” Reames said. “We do ask, because of space limitations, that those who do not work during the day try to come on Wednesdays, to allow those who work during the day a chance to shop on Mondays after they get off.”

New items are brought out on both Mondays and Wednesdays, but Reames asked that shoppers only shop on one of those days, not both.

Fundraiser

“On Monday, Oct. 22, we will be offering Buy One, Get One Free on our Fundraiser Rack items, to raise money for the Closet Angels Servants Heart Award Scholarship,” Reames said. “All other clothing will be available for a suggested donation of $5 per bag.”

Those who can not afford $5 per bag will not be charged.

“We gladly accept donations of clean, and preferably smoke free clothing, shoes, and accessories – all sizes,” said the director.

Closet Angels can also use donations of jewelry, men’s work clothes, costumes, dance attire, fabric for quilting, nursing home items, baby items including diapers, toiletries, bedding, linens, towels, and curtains.
