The Bulldog Report

Moran ISD has had a busy stretch before going on spring break.

Students Sam Stanley, Brylee Stautzenberer and Kielar Carr were inducted into the National Honor Society.

“The core values are Academics, Leadership, Service and Character,” Moran Principal Jo Hise said. “They had to exhibit those qualities in order to be nominated and voted upon. I’m very pleased to have them be a part of that organization.”

Current members are Ellis Hise, Jayla Bussell and Bradee Stautzenberger. Stanley and Brylee Stautzenberger, both seniors, transferred into the district before the school year started.

Spring break begins with the end of school Thursday, March 13 (today). Classes resume Monday, March 24.

Also on today’s schedule is cheer tryouts at 5:15 p.m. Candidates have participated in four tryout clinics as well as mock tryouts over the last three weeks.

Upon return from break, Moran will hold its Scholastic Book Fair March 24-27 with a Family Night on March 25. The high school UIl district meet is set for March 25 and 27 at Eula.

Moran meat judging and horse judging teams competed this week in contests at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

On Sunday, March 9, the meat judging team placed 22nd in a large field with other students competing as individuals.

Of the nine who took part in meat judging, seven were on hand Monday, March 10 for horse judging. Moran placed 86th out of more than 140 teams.

“The horse judging team is doing really well and learning,” superintendent Dr. John Denson said. “Some of my newer judges are outjudging some of the ones who have been doing it a while.”

Several Moran students were involved in other events this week and next. Bradee Stautzenberger and Landon Herrell had heifers entered this week with Stautzenberger to compete in tonight’s calf scramble.

Meanwhile, Rayni Vinson had a steer at Austin this week. Vinson and Stautzenberger have steers at Houston next week.

Moran’s veterinary science team will compete Thursday, March 20.
