Several Bible study groups are forming for local residents, ranging from women’s groups to those open to the general public.

One group has already started, while another is planning to start a new course after wrapping up its summer online program.

MMPC Women

Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church’s Women’s Bible Study is already underway.

The group meets 9:30-11:00 a.m. each Wednesday in the Church Parlor.

Senior Citizens Center

Pastor Brad McBee of First Christian will conduct a weekly Bible study starting Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Senior Citizens Center.

The group will meet at 11:00 a.m. each Tuesday.

“It will be a general Bible study,” McBee said. “We went through Luke last year.”

While the group meets at the Senior Citizens Center, all ages are welcome.

Ladies BSF

The Ladies Bible Study Fellowship will begin meeting from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Thursdays starting Sept. 15. The group will meet at The Feed Store.

The group will be studying “People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided,” which will focus on a period in Israel’s history across 15 books, from the split into two kingdoms, through dozens of kings and prophets to the exile into Babylon.

BSF-Abilene

BSF International programs are also being hosted by Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, covering the same subject matter as the Albany group.

Sessions for men’s, women’s, children’s, and youth programs will be held 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Mondays starting Sept. 12.

Each group/class will run autonomously. The program offers an opportunity to share the same study with family and friends.

Online Women’s Group

A Women’s Bible Study Facebook group is wrapping up a six-week course on Angie Smith’s “Seamless: Understanding the Bible as One Complete Story.”

“We’re talking about doing another one of Angie Smith’s studies as soon as we finish this one,” co-organizer Misty Braly said. “Ladies really seem to enjoy this study. She has two others, and I think we’re going to keep it going.”

Braly and Kristie Smith organized the Facebook group.

“On Sunday evenings, Kristie or I will post discussion questions,” Braly said. “People can comment throughout the week. This seems to work for people who are really busy this time of year.”
