Back in the Saddle: Fandangle Opens This Weekend
The 87th anniversary season of the Fort Griffin Fandangle will open this weekend, with performances scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 20–21, and continuing the following weekend on June 27–28 at the Prairie Theater.
Gates open each evening at 7:00 p.m. The main production begins at 8:30 p.m. Parking and concessions will be available on-site, and the ticket office at the theater opens at 7:15 p.m. on show nights.
Ticket sales have remained steady in the weeks leading up to opening night, with organizers reporting strong interest again this year. “We’ve seen a strong volume of ticket sales over the past couple of weeks, with a steady stream of online orders and phone calls coming in,” said ticket manager Jamie Parsons. “Interest has been high across the board, and we’re expecting solid crowds for both weekends of the show.”
Tickets are available online at fortgriffinfandangle.com, at the Fandangle ticket office on Main Street, or at the gate on the evening of each performance. General admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 4 to 12. Children 3 and under are admitted free. Group and military discounts are available.
This year’s production features a mix of familiar favorites and songs that haven’t been performed in many years. More than 250 local cast and crew members are involved in staging the large-scale outdoor musical, which tells the story this region and the Fort Griffin area through narration, live music, dancing, and traditional frontier imagery.
The annual Fandangle Parade will take place this Saturday morning, June 21, in downtown Albany. Parade organizers are still accepting entries. Those interested in participating may contact John Ayers (325-669-1156), Cori Bezner (325-660-1901), or Claire Ware (325-262-2389), or email info@fandangle.org.
