Youth revival set this weekend

First Baptist Church of Albany will host a youth revival on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24 with Carson James Prestridge of FBC Rowlett as the main speaker.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., with services beginning at 7:00p.m.each evening.

FBC youth minister Eduardo San Lucas said the event, themed “Seeing Jesus Rightly,”is to help youth streng then their faith.

“I want kids to encounter Jesus in their lives,” he said. “It’s a great time to know who the real Jesus is, what God can do in their lives.”

Prestridge, associate pastor for the high school young adult program at First Baptist Church in Rowlett, said his message is based on the revival’s theme.

“The first night will be a worldly call to Christianity versus a Biblical call to Christianity,” he said. “What the Bible says is completely counter to what the world says. We’re going to be looking at what Jesus calls from us and what it looks like to truly live for Jesus.”

Prestridge attends South western Baptist Theological Seminary in addition to his ministry in his hometown.

San Lucas commented that he wanted to schedule a spring revival last year, but wasn’t able to to because of multiple conflicts.

“Spring is so busy in Albany with everybody doing everything,” he said. “This week end feels like the right time to do it.”

The program will include the band Celebration Worship.

“It’s a mixture of people who go to my churchas well as some from Dallas Baptist University,” Prestridge said. “They’re talented, they love the Lord so much, and their heart is to bring people to Jesus.”

San Lucas has wanted to present the program for some time.

“I believe bringing Carson in is agreat fit,”San Lucas said. “He’s young, and he works with both youth and young adults, so he’s seen different perspectives.”
