You, me & everyday life
THAT QUESTION...
I know that all parents and grandparents have heard “that question” from your kids and grandkids a million times. I know I have.
It had been awhile since I had taken a ride with my granddaughters. It was a experience.
I drove to Denver to stay with them while their parents were out of the country for medical treatment.
I flew the last two times I went, and decided I could drive it this time, a nine-hour drive. I would stay a week and then bring them home with me for a week.
Well, I think the trip home might have been 18 hours, or so it seemed. I’m not used to the new snack rules...you know...something about every 45 minutes.
I packed up a few snacks, water, and their “electronics” (the most important gadgets they can’t live without.) They played...then asked, “Are we there yet?”, and then “Now are we there yet?”
Coming home, I’ve never been happier to reach One Mile Hill and see that grand courthouse.
I had a great two weeks with them and then drove back to Lubbock to deliver them to their other grandmother, who lives in Amarillo.
To all of you traveling with your kids...When they ask “Are we there yet?”...just answer “ALMOST.” It works for a few miles.
