Jeremiah 7:22-23, “ For I did not speak to your fathers, orcommandthemin thedaythatIbroughtthem out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.

“But this is what I commanded them saying, obey my voice, and I will be your God and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the ways which Icommandyou, thatitmay be well with you.”

There was no “Law” at this point. God from this point wanted a walking talking relationship with His people.

Obey My voice and I will be your God.”

I read the New Testament for the first time during January through March, 1970. I was not a Christian believer at this time. I was not sure if God or this Jesus was real.

During Easter services at the end of March, I was encouraged to give Jesus a chance to prove Himself to be real.

How?IwastoaskJesus to come into my life as my savior. So I did. Could it really be that simple?

I had a question. I wanted an answer. I had read the New Testament and understood if Jesus was really God, He could speak to me my answer.

That evening I invited Jesus into my life. I got up from the chair I was sitting in and walked across the room.Iwasatpeacestanding there. Then I heard, “Doug, I don’t expect you to be perfect. Just take my word and live it as fully as you possibly can.”

When I heard, “Doug,” I knew it was Jesus. I was hearing Jesus speak to me on the inside of me. He answered my question. In thatmoment,IknewIwas saved, I had eternal life, my sins were all forgiven, every word in the Bible was truth from cover to cover and Jesus was God and He loved me. And He knewmebymyfirstname!

If He was real, I expected Him to talk to me. If I as an unbeliever understood this, why don’t Christians?

In John 10:3-4 Jesus tells us “My sheep shall hear my voice and know My voice.

Learning to hear His voice is so very important, vital!

Put yourself in a quiet place. Ask a question and expectHimtospeaktoyou. Be diligent and patent.

Be still. You will know when He speaks.

When you hear as He said in Jeremiah, “ Obey My voice!”
