A record group of 187 girls attended the Big Country FCA Weekend of Champions girls retreat over the weekend at Eastland’s Solid Rock Camp.

Local FCA representative Paul Johnston, who led the program, said it was a successful weekend.

“I think, as a whole, the girls were searching out their faith a little deeper, andIthinktheyhadagreat weekend of personal revival,” Johnston said. “Megan Ledbetter brought in her bandanddidthepraiseand worship. There were a lot of decisions made.”

Betsy Spraberry, one of several Albany residents who served as a Huddle Leader for the weekend, spoke about how souls are spirit and will not die.

“I’m the woman I am today because of what ladies poured into me when I wasateenager,”Spraberry said. “They spoke life and truth over me, and now I get to do the same for these girls. There are pivotal moments in my life where I look back and remember a coach, a church event, or speaker that shared some kind of truth that lit something up in me, and it mattered.”
