Local churches plan Easter services

Albany churches began theLentenseasonWednesday, Feb. 14 with the observance of Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday services were held by several localdenominations,many of which have scheduled programsthroughoutLent and Holy Week.

This year, Easter falls on Sunday, March 31.

Trinity Lutheran Every Wednesday through March 20, Trinity Lutheran Church will have a light supper at 5:30 p.m.followedbyamidweek Lent service at 6:30 p.m.

On March 28 and 29, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services are scheduled.

Two services are planned for Easter Sunday with breakfast to be served.

First Christian

First Christian Church started its “Soup of Substance” program on Wednesday. It will continue at 6:00 p.m. each Wednesday through Lent. “During the season of Lent, we have a soup meal and Bible study,” pastor Brad McBee said. “Our study this year is ‘Questions Christians Ask’.”

First Christian will also hold a Maundy Thursday service March 28.

Albany Methodist

Albany Methodist pastor Dan Houze will preach a series of sermons on the Holy Spirit during Lent.

Jesus of Nazareth

JesusofNazarethCatholic Church will hold its annual Lenten Fish Fry at 5:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at the Youth Center.
