Donations needed to re-fund Cause for Paws
Albany’s Cause for Paws helps keep the stray animal population in check by contributing toward the costs of spaying and neutering local dogs and cats. However, the nonprofit is struggling to keep up with the requests for assistance, and they are asking for help themselves.
“Demand has been high, which is good,” said board member Lacey Anderson. “People have been doing a good job of getting their animals taken care of, but we’re stretched thin.”
Cause for Paws has spent $9,185 so far this year helping to spay and neuter both feral animals and those whose owners would not otherwise be able to afford the procedure, and the organization is out of funds.
“A lot of our money is going toward ferals,” said Anderson. “But even with the animals that have owners, we only require a $20 owner co-pay. Our mission is to prevent strays, unneccessary euthanasias, and help animals live happy and healthy lives.”
The organization is operated strictly by volunteers.
“We have some great contributors,” said Anderson. “We just need a few more.”
Contributions for Cause for Paws can be dropped off at either bank, or can be mailed to Albany’s Cause for Paws, P.O. Box 2860, Albany TX 76430.
