The Albany Ministerial Alliance sponsored Vacation Bible School began this summer’s “Concrete & Cranes” on Sunday, July 26 and wrapped up the annual event on Wednesday, July 29 at the City Pool with a “Family Night” program, hot dog and nacho supper, and swimming.

Over 70 children and 50 workers attended the first two evenings, according to co-organizer Betsy Spraberry.

“The number of attendees has allowed us to keep the groups small and spaced out,” Spraberry said. “Each leader wore a mask to keep the groups safe as they rotated to different activities.”

This is the second year for the members of the Alliance to hold VBS during the evening.

Spraberry said VBS has run smoothly, and it has been a successful year, even with the current pandemic.

“This has been an exciting year at VBS,” Spraberry reported. “People from all over the community have helped out, and it has been exciting to see the kids learn.”

She added that coaches and players who had baseball games on Monday came to VBS in their uniforms and then slipped out when it was time for their games.

“It made me so proud to see these kids take the step to commit that VBS was important when they could have skipped the whole night,” Spraberry said.
