Albany News

Shackelford County commissioners got an update on the county’s new official website and discussed a possible contract with the Walker-Sayle Unit in Breckenridge during a regular meeting on Monday morning, Jan. 28.

The session was conducted by senior commissioner Steve Riley, as new county judge Bob Skelton was attending a judges’ school this week.

New Precinct 2 commissioner Ace Reames was present for his first meeting as a county official.

County Website

County treasurer Tammy Brown reported that the new website created by the County Information Resources Agency (CIRA) through the Texas Association of Counties has been launched.

At $1,525 per year, CIRA hosting and maintenance is quite a bit less than the $2,700 that the county has been paying, and updating response has been quick, Brown said.

The site is located at co.shackelford.tx.us.

Client Work

Lanham Martin reported that he and Skelton had visited with Walker-Sayle’s warden about using clients to do local projects, such as repair of the gazebo on the Courthouse Square.

Action was tabled until Skelton returns.
