The annual Trunk or Treat sponsored by the Albany Ministerial Alliance will take place at Nancy Smith Elementary School in conjunction with the PTO Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 27 this year, a change from the traditional Wednesday evening gathering by the Bank Park.

Coordinators’ plans call for Trunk or Treat vehicles to be parked in the grassy area between the elementary school and the bus barn, with Trunk or Treat scheduled to be open from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m.

Members of several Albany churches will host the trunk-or-treat event for community children, and they are expected to offer an assortment of candy, goodies, and games from their decorated vehicles.

The merging of Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat into one location, on the same evening, is hoped to increase attendance and participation at both events, while eliminating the need for the Alliance members to serve a meal at Trunk or Treat.

The cafeteria opens at 5:00 p.m. and the prices are extremely reasonable, according to co-coordinator of the cafeteria Tisha Wilkins.

“They are encouraging everyone to eat at the cafeteria, so we won’t be doing food this year,” said Alliance president Brad McBee. “Everything is right on course. Participation (in Trunk or Treat) seems like it will be the same as normal.”

Booths at the PTO Fall Fest will open half an hour later than Trunk or Treat, and will also close later than the Ministerial Alliance sponsored activity.

The entire community is invited to participate in handing out treats during the trunk-or-treat event.

People who want to bring a trunk full of treats are encouraged to contact a member of the Ministerial Alliance ahead of time, so they know who to expect, but last minute participants are also welcome, according to McBee.
