More teams have signed up for the annual Fathers Day Golf Tournament set for June 20-21 at the Albany Golf Course.

Activity at the local course has been restricted to members only during the pandemic shutdown, but the easing of restrictions came in time for the club to host the annual tournament and start weekly scrambles.

Starting last week, the local course is now open to both members and non-members on a daily basis. The facility was open to members only for about two months during the COVID-19 restrictions.

Only two tee times for the tournament are available for the morning flight, but several are still open for the afternoon.

“Our morning times are filling up fast, but there are still several slots open in the afternoon,” tournament director James Waters said. “We still have a few golf carts available to rent for both morning and afternoon tee times as well.”

Tee times for Saturday morning begin at 8:30 a.m., with afternoon action starting at 1:30 p.m.

The tournament will be conducted as a three-person scramble format, with the entry fee set at $210 per team.

Waters said that there will not be a meal this year in order to follow social distancing policies.

Anyone interested in entering a team or reserving a golf cart should contact Waters at 325-627-3598.

Waters noted that the number of carts available for rent is limited, so anyone interested should contact him as soon as possible.

The club hosted the first scramble of the summer on Wednesday, with weekly events continuing through the summer months.

Anyone interested in the weekly Wednesday scrambles should meet at 5:00 p.m. at the club house, with 5:30 p.m. tee time set.

The entry fee for the scramble is $10 for club members and $15 for non-members.
