Students to attend youth expo

The Moran Independent School District will host its annual Veterans Day luncheon on Monday, Nov. 12.

“We are having a hamburger luncheon to honor our veterans beginning at noon on the 12th,” said superintendent Danny Freeman. “All local veterans and their families are invited.”

Although there is not a formal program planned for the event, pictures of several Shackelford County veterans will be on display, and current Moran students will help serve the meal.

World of Work

High school students at MISD plan to attend the World of Work (WOW) youth expo on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Abilene Convention Center.

The purpose of WOW is to expose, educate, and engage ninth to 12th grade students with employers and organizations as well as post-secondary schools in the region, according to the sponsor, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas. 

The event also features workforce readiness activities such as mock interviews to promote success after graduation.

FFA Fruit Sales

“The Moran FFA chapter is currently selling fruits,” said ag advisor Matthew Hise. “Please find an FFA member if you are interested in some, or if you just want to support your local FFA chapter!”

The deadline for placing fruit orders is Nov. 14.

Thanksgiving Break

Monday, Nov. 19 is a student holiday and staff comp day at MISD.

Thanksgiving break for Moran ISD runs from Tuesday, Nov. 20 through Friday, Nov. 23.

Classes resume at the usual times on Monday, Nov. 26.
