Trick or treating will involve some older youth again this year, including Albany High School student council members who will be out in local neighborhoods to “Trick or Treat for Change” on  Tuesday night, Oct. 30 starting at 6:30 p.m.

“There will be about 45 kids, from grades seven through 12,” said student council sponsor Donnie Lucas. “They will go door to door asking for contributions.”

All money collected will be donated to the Albany Chest’s 2018 fundraising campaign, which has a $42,000 goal. Twenty-six local agencies have requested funding from the Albany Chest.

Any checks that are given should be made out directly to the Albany Chest, not to the school.

“Our goal is $1,000 again this year,” said advisor Donnie Lucas. “We hope people will help us collect money for the long list of local organizations that receive help from the Albany Chest.”

Even just loose change will be greatly appreciated, according to Lucas.

“The kids really enjoy dressing up and collecting for the Chest,” he added. “They are having fun while doing something really important for the community.”

Lucas explained that the community will be divided up into sections, with each group of four or five students assigned to a specific neighborhood.
