Senior parents to meet

High school commencement is less than two months away, and parents of graduating seniors need to attend a planning meeting at The Feed Store on Sunday, April 7 at 6:00 p.m. to organize for the busy weeks ahead for them and their graduates.

“Lots of year-end information will be handed out as well as a calendar with important events,” said senior parent Tisha Wilkins. “There are also committees that we need help with. If possible, we need at least one parent from each senior to be in attendance at this meeting.”

One of the many events coming up for the seniors is Project Graduation, a drug and alcohol-free party the night of commencement that has become a tradition in Albany. Typically seniors and their parents raise funds for the free event, and the parents arrange the party details.

Last Sunday’s Project Graduation fundraiser meal went very well, according to Wilkins, and other fundraisers are also in the works.

“We also sent out fundraising letters last week, and donations have been coming in,” Wilkins said. “The seniors will be selling homemade ice cream at the Albany Car Show on Saturday, April 20 and at the Wild West Day on Saturday, April 27.”
