School meal pickup times change

The meal pickup times are changing as of today (Thursday) for Albany ISD students, according to AISD cafeteria manager Debra Boyett.

Parents should bring their children to pick up breakfast between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. each weekday morning, while lunches can be picked up in the Nancy Smith Elementary School circle drive between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

“Now that we’ve got a week or two behind us, we have more of an idea of when parents are going to pick up,” said Boyett. “We feel like these times will work better, and the food is not sitting out there as long.”

Again, Boyett emphasized that there doesn’t need to be any notice for student breakfasts, but workers need to know by 9:00 a.m. each morning how many lunches to prepare.

Parents can call the NSES office at 325-762-3384 or tell the staff when they drive through for breakfast.

Boyett added that parents can order lunches for the whole week on Monday if they prefer rather than calling every day, but they need to make sure that the staff understands that is their intention.

The cafeteria manager said that they are continuing to hand out about 25 breakfasts and between 35 and 40 lunch bags each day.

Any changes in the procedures would be relayed via Bloomz and Zoom, as well as in the newspaper.

Boyett stressed that students must be present in order for the meals to be given out.
