Reyes workday rescheduled

Volunteers originally planned to begin the transformation of J.R. and Tricia Reyes’ recently purchased storage building into a comfortable, although tiny home last Saturday, but inclement weather delayed the start of the project.

“We are leveling the house, and it was too muddy to get that done,” said organizer Lori Schooler. “So we are starting early this Saturday at 7:00 a.m., and will level the house and put in electricity. Everyone is welcome to come and pitch in!”

The Reyes’ uninsured home was destroyed by fire early on the morning of July 11.

The small building has been placed on the lot owned by Reyes, and will be converted into a one-bedroom, one-bath home, with a kitchen, living area, and add-on laundry room.

In the next few weeks, the FBC misison team and other volunteers plan to install plumbing for the bathroom and kitchen, add on a small washroom, put in insulation, build interior walls, hang sheetrock, tape and bed, and install ceilings.

Accounts to accept donations for the Reyes family have been set up at both local banks.
