Project Grad begins final fundraising push

Albany News

In two months, high school seniors will march across the stage, receive their diplomas, and walk into the next chapter of their lives, one that will no longer include seeing all of the same classmates, many of whom they’ve known since kindergarten and have gone to school with every day.

Before they say goodbye and head off to college or a career, it has become tradition for Albany seniors to gather together on the evening of graduation for the drug and alcohol free all-night party known as Project Graduation.

Donations and fundraisers cover the cost of food, non-alcoholic drinks, gifts, and prizes for the participants.

Project Graduation fundraising letters will be mailed out this week, and special fundraisers are scheduled over the next few weeks, according to organizer Tisha Wilkins.

Fundraiser Meal

The seniors will host a lunch on Sunday, March 31 at The Feed Store from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

A freewill donation is asked in exchange for a meal of chicken spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, and homemade dessert.

To go orders will be available, and students will be available to deliver the meals to cars for those that don’t want to get out and park, according to Wilkins.

Ice Cream

The seniors will be selling homemade ice cream at the Albany Car Show on Saturday, April 20 and at the Wild West Day on Saturday, April 27.
